Parents and Students in Action (PSIA) was founded in Eatonville, Pierce County, Washington in 1988
with grassroots support & volunteers. Their purpose was to provide after school activities for youth ages
   5-18 in Eatonville.
   PSIA became a non-profit corporation with a 501 (c) (3) in 1989. PSIA received it's first grant in 1990.
Grants and individual donations continue to be our primary source of funding.
The program moved into the Eatonville Community Center in 1993, receiving free rent and utilities. PSIA
continues to provide recreational and social activities and performs community service projects for rural
southeast Pierce County, covering 540 sq. miles. PSIA serves 600 + youth, teens and families.
Activities include: "Youth Night" & "Open Gym" at the Eatonville Community Center, after, "After-School"
programs at Eatonville, Weyerhaeuser & Columbia Crest Elementary schools in July, with the assistance
   of 4-H.
The board of directors changed the name to Youth Connection in 2005. In the fall of 2006 PSIA expanded
its program to a new recreation center in the heart of Eatonville. The new recreation center has allowed us
to expand our days and hours of the Youth Nights and After School programs. We were able to provide a
"Spring Break" activity program to the youth of the community.
Community service is a big part of our program "Youth learning to give back to the community". We work
with the town, community/civic groups and the school district to provide needed services.
We offer a safe place to learn and develop ongoing relationships with caring adult supervisors, through life-
enhancing programs and character development experiences.
